Drivers and warehouse staff for UK operators
Class 1 and Class 2 drivers, 7.5 tonne and van drivers, forklift operators, warehouse staff and transport office cover. Temporary, temp-to-perm and permanent, supplied from an office in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire.

Hire drivers and warehouse staff
Send us the vehicle, the licence category, the start time, the site and the shift length. We agree the terms in writing before we supply anyone, and every driver goes through our licence, CPC card, tacho card and right to work checks first.
Cover can be temporary, temp-to-perm or permanent.
Find driving and warehouse work
Register your licence, your cards and tickets, the towns you can reach and the shifts you want. We offer work by phone, with the site, the start time and the vehicle.
An agency cannot charge you for finding you work. Nalon does not.
Licence categories we recruit for
These are the licence categories we recruit for, with what each one allows, and the two forklift types we place. Each panel links to its role page, which covers the cards the job needs and how we check them.
BVans
- Allows
- Vehicles up to 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass with up to 8 passenger seats, or 4,250 kg for electric and hydrogen vehicles. This is the van licence.
- We recruit
- Van, courier and multi-drop drivers.
C17.5 tonne
- Allows
- Vehicles between 3,500 kg and 7,500 kg maximum authorised mass, with a trailer up to 750 kg.
- We recruit
- 7.5 tonne box and curtainside drivers.
CClass 2
- Allows
- Rigid lorries over 3,500 kg, with a trailer up to 750 kg. In the trade this is Class 2.
- We recruit
- General haulage, tipper and fridge rigid drivers.
C+EClass 1
- Allows
- Category C vehicles with a trailer over 750 kg, which is what an articulated lorry needs. In the trade this is Class 1.
- We recruit
- Days, nights, tramping and trunking.
Forklift tickets
Counterbalance forklift
- Means
- A sit-on truck that carries the load on forks at the front and balances it with the truck’s own weight behind. The certificate names the truck type.
- We recruit
- Loading bays, yards and goods-in.
Reach truck
- Means
- A truck for narrow aisle racking, where the mast or forks reach forward to the load. It needs its own certificate, because training on one truck type does not cover another.
- We recruit
- Racked warehouses and distribution centres.
Sectors we supply
Each sector has its own vehicles, its own tickets and its own shift pattern. Pick yours to see what the work looks like and what we check.

Checks before a driver starts
Five checks come before a first shift. The compliance checks page lists all of them, including the forklift and ADR checks.
DVLA licence check
We check the licence on the DVLA service with the driver’s check code: the vehicles the driver can drive, penalty points and disqualifications.
Driver CPC card
We ask to see the Driver Qualification Card and check the driver’s periodic training record.
Digital tachograph card
We ask to see the digi card and check that it is in date and in the driver’s own name.
Right to work
We check every worker’s right to work in the UK before the first shift and keep a record of the check.
References
We take references that cover recent driving or warehouse work, and ask about licence history and attendance.
Roles we fill
Thirteen roles in three groups: drivers, warehouse staff and the transport office.

Questions from drivers and transport managers
- Can you cover a shift tomorrow?
Ring the office on 0333 335 5948 during opening hours, Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00, with the vehicle, the licence category, the start time, the site and the shift length. We take the details on the call and come back on whether we can cover it.
- Do I need my own digi card?
Yes, if you drive a vehicle fitted with a digital or smart tachograph. The driver card is issued to you personally, so an agency or an operator cannot lend you one. If it is lost, stolen or damaged, tell the DVLA immediately and apply for a replacement within 7 days. Bring the card to registration and we check that it is in date.
- What licence does a 7.5 tonne driver need?
Category C1 covers vehicles between 3,500 kg and 7,500 kg. A car licence passed before 1 January 1997 already shows C1, so check the categories on your licence before you assume either way.
- Do drivers pay you anything?
No. Recruitment agencies cannot charge you a fee for finding or trying to find you work, and Nalon does not charge drivers or warehouse staff to register or to be offered a shift.
- What does a driver cost per hour?
We do not publish rates. A charge rate is built from the driver’s pay, holiday pay, employer National Insurance, pension contribution and our margin, and we quote it in writing before anyone is supplied.
- How far from Cleckheaton do you supply?
Anywhere in the UK. The office is in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire. The 25 location pages set out the roads and freight sites around each place, and a booking anywhere else starts with a call to the office.
