Pin: Coventry. Square: the Nalon office in Cleckheaton.
Coventry has easy access to the M1, M6, M42 and M69, as Coventry City Council puts it. The M69 runs between M1 junction 21 near Leicester and M6 junction 2 near Coventry. From the M69, the exit signposted for junction 2 leads to the M6 towards Birmingham and the A4600 towards Coventry, and the A46 is reached from the roundabout at that junction.
National Highways calls the A46 a strategic road link between the East and West Midlands, connecting Coventry and Warwickshire to the motorway network. Walsgrave junction on the A46 is the last remaining at-grade roundabout east of Coventry and north of Tollbar End junction. The A46 Walsgrave Improvements Scheme received its Development Consent Order on 4 February 2026, and it needs several overnight closures of the A46 for essential construction work.
Rail freight is close by rather than in the city. Coventry City Council names the rail freight terminals around Coventry as ABP Hams Hall at Coleshill, the Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal at Birch Coppice, and DIRFT next to Rugby. Coventry is not on GOV.UK’s list of charging Clean Air Zones.
