It sits at the junctions between the M1, the A5 and the A428, between Rugby and Crick, a short distance east of M1 junction 18. Two M1 junctions serve the town. Junction 18, next to Crick, is to the north-east. Junction 16, the Upper Heyford Interchange, is to the south-east, with the A45 to Daventry and the A4500 to Northampton. The A361 connects Daventry to the A5 at Kilsby, to the north, which gives access to M1 junction 18, and the A428 meets the M1 at junction 18 and bypasses Crick and West Haddon.
DIRFT has a direct connection to the Northampton Loop of the West Coast Main Line. The Planning Inspectorate records a consented rail freight interchange and an extension to DIRFT at the former Rugby Radio Station, with a decision dated 3 July 2014.
