Leicester is on the M1, the M69 and the A46. At M1 junction 21 the M69 leaves for Coventry, and the A5460 runs from the junction into Leicester. Junction 21A joins the A46, signed for Leicester and Newark, which was built as a bypass of Leicester to the north. Junction 22 is at Markfield, where the A50 from Leicester meets the M1 and the A511 leaves for Coalville and Ashby.
South of the city the M1 passes Lutterworth at junction 20, where the A4303 Lutterworth southern bypass links the M1 to the A5.
