HGV and warehouse staff in Liverpool

Liverpool’s freight runs through the Port of Liverpool at Seaforth, the A5036 that links it to the motorways, and the tolled Mersey crossings. We supply Class 1, Class 2 and van drivers, shunters and warehouse staff here.

Pin: Liverpool. Square: the Nalon office in Cleckheaton.

Liverpool is a port city, and its lorry traffic follows the port. Peel Ports says the Port of Liverpool has the Royal Seaforth Container Terminal and Liverpool2 as its container terminals, purpose-built terminals for biomass and steel, multi-user warehousing and a rail terminal for onward cargo. The port extends from Brunswick Dock in Liverpool to Seaforth Dock in Seaforth, and includes the Birkenhead Docks on the western side of the Mersey.

National Highways describes the A5036 between Switch Island Interchange and Princess Way as the main access connecting the Port of Liverpool with the motorway network. The A5036 starts at the Switch Island junction in Netherton and runs south-west, almost in a straight line, towards the docks at Seaforth. Switch Island is also where the M58 starts, and it is M57 junction 7. Peel Ports lists road connections to the port by the M53, M57, M62 and M6.

Liverpool is not on GOV.UK’s list of charging Clean Air Zones. The Mersey crossings do charge: both the Mersey Gateway Bridge and the Silver Jubilee Bridge between Runcorn and Widnes are tolled, and Merseyflow says the cost depends on the vehicle.
